Man Arrested After Rollover Crash

Alcohol is believed to be partly responsible for a rollover crash in Houghton County Sunday morning.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department were called out to a one-vehicle personal injury crash on Upper Point Mills Road near Lower Point Mills Road in Osceola Township around 5:00am Sunday.

Officers say a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man from Lower Michigan was west bound on Upper Point Mills Road when he veered off the roadway then rolled over several times and struck a utility pole.

The vehicle then left the scene.

Deputies located the vehicle along with the occupants about a mile and a half away.

The driver and his male passenger were both taken to U.P. Health System—Portage by Mercy Ambulance and treated and released.

The driver was then taken into custody under suspicion of operating while intoxicated.

He was lodged at the Houghton County Jail.
