MLB – Tigers Fall to Indians
Justin Verlander was effective in his first start of the season, but the bullpen was not, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Cleveland Indians 5-4 yesterday. Verlander allowed two runs on three hits over five innings, and left with a one-run lead. Blaine Hardy opened the sixth, and gave up a run when David Murphy tripled home Michael Brantley. Alex Wilson relieved Hardy, and gave up a sacrifice fly. Hardy was charged with both runs, and took the loss. The Tigers threatened in the ninth, but J.D. Martinez grounded into a double play to end the game.

The Tigers host the Indians again this afternoon. Alfredo Simon will pitch against Corey Kluber. Hear the first pitch at 1:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
