One man is in custody after trying to flee from police in Houghton County.
Michigan State Police Calumet Post say troopers tried to make a traffic stop for careless driving on Calumet Street in the Village of Lake Linden about 1:15am Wednesday morning.
The 28-year-old male driver fled from police and attempted to drive down a snowmobile trail going at least 60 miles per hour.
The troopers slowed down and lost sight of the vehicle for a short distance.
The vehicle was found wrecked on the trail with the airbag deployed a few minutes later and the driver had fled on foot.
The Michigan State Police Canine Unit was called in to help search for the driver.
He was located a short time later with an apparent ankle injury he received while fleeing the scene.
The suspect was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital for treatment and then lodged in the Houghton County Jail.
He is facing a charge of fleeing and eluding.
His name is being withheld pending arraignment in 97th District Court.
