Great Lakes Nuclear Waste Dump On Hold

Canadian officials are holding off a final decision on whether to open a nuclear waste dump in Ontario less than a mile from Lake Huron.

State Senator Phil Pavlov says that’s good news.

He opposes the plan and is worried about the long-term impact on the lake, especially if there’s a leak.

The plan by Ontario Power Generation has drawn bipartisan opposition from Michigan’s state and federal lawmakers as well as over 150 municipalities, from Toronto to Chicago.

A final decision isn’t expected until December.
