UPDATE: PowerSchool security breach impacts a local school district

UPDATE: CCISD Superintendent confirmed several school districts in the region, including Houghton – Portage Township Schools, use PowerSchool services. A local school district may have had data accessed after a software management company was recently exposed to a cybersecurity attack. 

Yesterday the Houghton Portage Township School District informed parents the software management company PowerSchool, which the district uses for its student information system, discovered hackers accessed highly sensitive data related to school districts in late December.

The company has begun an investigation into the attack and affirms its commitment to providing necessary support. PowerSchool provides data management support for more than 50 million students in the United States.
