Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center hosts four donation sites in the western Upper Peninsula during January

Starting the year strong makes a difference. The Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center wants to start 2025 strong too. This month in the western upper peninsula the center plans to host three donation sites.

Today the first blood donation site will open at the Houghton High School from noon until 4 pm.

Blood donations act as vital tools for medical professionals to provide necessary care in an emergency or during major surgical operations. The most common blood types the regional blood center says it needs include type O negative and Type A negative blood. Both blood types are commonly used during transfusions. A single donation can go to save up to three lives.

Other regional blood center donation sites this month will include Ontonagon on the 16th, Chassell on the 20th, and L’Anse on the 24th of January.
