The Houghton Sheriff’s office arrested three men in connection with multiple home robberies in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

On Thursday the Houghton County Sheriff’s office announced the arrest of Erik Grandchamp, 42 years old from Calumet, James Kilpela 37 of Atlantic Mine, and Jim Slater 34 from Houghton, who have been arrested in connection with larceny incidents from August to October this year.

During the spree the accused allegedly targeted contractors, stealing thousands of dollars in equipment and other items.

Grand champ and Kilpela have been charged with one count of conducting a criminal enterprise. Slater has been charged with two counts of felony larceny, two counts of concealing stolen property, and two counts as a habitual offender.

The investigation is a collaborative effort between the Houghton County sheriff, Keweenaw County sheriff, Michigan State Police, and the UPSET drug enforcement team. Anyone with additional information should contact the MSP Calumet Post.
