Obituary: Kristin G. Delpierre

Kristin G. Delpierre, 65, a resident of Houghton, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Kristin was born on August 31, 1959, in LaGrange, Illinois, to Willard and Edith (Kuehn) Johnson. She was raised in Lombard, Il and graduated from Montini Catholic School with the class of 1977.

She was united in marriage to Louis Delpierre on October 21, 1989.

When Kristin moved to the Copper Country, she worked at the family business, Johnson’s Bakery in Houghton. Most recently, Kristin was employed at Michigan Tech’s Mont Ripley Ski Hill where she had worked as a clerk.

She had a fond interest in jewelry. She worked for Keweenaw Gem and Gift where she would enjoy travelling to Arizona for jewelry shows. She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton. She had a love for the outdoors. Her favorite hobbies were berry picking, agate hunting, skiing, swimming, and spending time with her two sons.

Kristin is preceded in by her mother, Edith.

She is survived by her husband, Louis

                                        Her sons, Zak and Victor

                                        Her father, Willard

                                        Her brothers, Eric(Tina) Johnson and Kurt Johnson

                            Her former sister-in-law and dear friend Stephanie Johnson

                           Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.

Friends may call on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 9 – 11 am at St. Ignatius in Houghton.
