Laurium seeks comment on the Five Year Parks and Recreation Plan

The Village of Laurium seeks community input for its 5-year Parks and Recreation Plan. Recently the Village of Laurium published a copy of the proposed Parks and Recreation Plan to the village website. The five-year recreation plan will guide village decisions for parks and recreation opportunities.

The village operates several facilities the community uses regularly such as the George Gipp Ice Arena and recreation area, the Gipp Memorial Park, and Daniell Park. In the winter the arena opens for open skate and ice rentals. In the summer Laurium’s parks fill with kids and families during various events such as the Daniell Park Concert Series.

In January the village will host a public hearing for the five-year recreation plan. All individuals submitting a comment to the village should contact village manager Ian Lewis. The public hearing will be held at the village hall on January 14th at 6 pm.
