Thanksgiving Travel Threatened by Weather

As the long Thanksgiving weekend opens, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Keweenaw region.

Higher elevations affected by lake effect snow could receive a foot or more by Saturday morning. Lower elevations could get at least six inches. Gusty northwesterly winds will produce areas of drifting and low visibility.

Similar conditions are expected along Lake Superior east of Marquette, with a Winter Storm Warning also in effect for that region.

Snow is expected to continue through the weekend, and well into next week.

Authorities encourage motorists to drive carefully, allow extra time. Make sure your vehicle is stocked with emergency supplies, including a shovel, blankets, food and water.
