Automotive holiday travelers will pay less for gasoline than they did last Thanksgiving.
Triple-A Michigan’s ongoing survey placed the statewide average cost of a gallon of unleaded gas at $2.99 per gallon yesterday.
That’s 11 cents less than a week ago, 13 cents less than a month ago, and 17 cents less than a year ago.
As of yesterday in the Copper Country, Houghton County’s stations turned in the lowest average price at $2.89 per gallon. Baraga County was at $3.05, and Ontonagon and Keweenaw Counties at $3.10.
Fuel industry experts say you can give the credit to lower crude oil prices, driven downward by softening economic situations in such countries as China.
