Anticipated Great Lakes Cruise Uptick Could Bypass Lake Superior

After a couple of down years, the Great Lakes cruise ship industry appears set to rebound next summer.

Unfortunately, the expansion isn’t expected to include much activity on Lake Superior.

Eight ships owned by six companies are set to ply the waters, but Visit Keweenaw’s Brad Barnett says most will stay below the bridge…

You just haven’t seen that level of investment from companies on Lake Superior.

He remains hopeful that we won’t be left out completely…

There’ve been conversations with a couple of cruise lines, and I would suspect that we’re going to see a small return in 2025.

You can hear Barnett’s full comments on last Sunday’s Copper Country Today program, available at KeweenawReport.com.

Cruise industry experts say people seem to be more attracted to stops at larger cities with more shopping and amenities, and public transportation to reach those on-land destinations.
