Giving Tuesday has evolved over the years. Growing from a handful of local non-profits working to promote a healthy community in line with the then Portage Health Foundation’s mission.
Next week, PHF, now the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation will promote a day of giving to 50 separate causes working in the Copper Country.
Several groups, like the Keweenaw Family Resource Center, 31 Backpacks, the Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home, and Copper Country Angel Mission. Five of the causes Giving Tuesday supports also include Copper Shores programs like Bridges, Meals on Wheels, Outreach and Education, and Victim Support programs.
We’re excited to see that number come through, including 14 new ones, which is a record for us to see that many new organizations come in. We’re excited about those new organizations because a lot of them are people we hadn’t heard of before, people we hadn’t worked with before, and it’s nice to see them raising their hands saying they want to be part of this. – Michael Babcock, Communication and Donor Relation Director, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation
Copper Shores Giving Tuesday will accept donations online or mailed to the foundation’s Hancock office until December 3rd. On Giving Tuesday the foundation, and its charitable friends, will join together at the Copper Country Mall for the day of giving, so the community can learn and meet the groups working to promote a healthy Copper Country.
