David Paul Kuivanen, age 69 of Baraga, Michigan and Desert Hot Springs, California, passed away on Monday, November 25th, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on June 25th 1955 son of Gordon John Kuivanen and Betty Jane (Saaranen) Kuivanen. Born in Detroit, David would come to attend Iowa State for his bachelor’s in architecture followed by his master’s earned at University of Minnesota. David then settled in California, where he pursued his passions. On August 8th, 2013 David Kuivanen and Karim Ongko were officially married in Los Angeles, California. In Burbank, David came to work for himself where he ran his own company providing his architectural services. They resided in California full time up until 2022 where they came to Baraga to settle. David enjoys renovating houses, traveling, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings football fan.
Surviving him is his spouse Karim Ongko of Baraga and Desert Hot Springs; brother John (Audra) Kuivanen of San Tan Valley, AZ, sisters Beth (Jon) Steffen of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Amy (Mike) Harvey of Franktown, CO; and nieces and nephews Jeremy, Katie, Lilly, Sofia, Alexa, Daniel, and Timothy.
Preceding David are his mother Betty and father Gordon.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 29th from 1-2:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, with a sharing of memories at 2:00 p.m.
